Thundercats is the type of cartoon you can watch and it makes you forget your troubles. The world can be a tough place sometimes so it's nice to be able to sit down and watch a bit of escapism, to be able to watch a world where the heroes always beat the bad guys. I first watched Thundercats in However, I picked up a couple of videos of it in late and watched them.
I still enjoyed them. Thundercats was based on Third Earth which had the most beautiful scenery of any cartoon. Lion-O was the leader who was full of courage. He had a team he could depend on-the strong Panthro, the reliable Tygra and the beautiful Cheetara who could run really fast. They helped him in his battle against the evil Mum-Ra one of the best cartoon baddies ever in my opinion, certainly more evil than Skeletor from He-Man.
The stories were very good like most 's stories. My favourite part of each episode was where Lion-O used to call his friends with the aid of the Sword of Omens whenever he was in trouble. This was a great series with a brilliant theme tune. Big Movie Fan May 17, Details Edit. The Movie , but these episodes were very few.
Over the course of the next few weeks, the remaining parts of Lion-O's Anointment Trials were shown, followed by a repeat of "The Rock Giant" on October 15, , and then continuing on with "The Thunder-Cutter" the following week.
An interesting note about the return of ThunderCats to UK TV is how the censors' attitudes towards Panthro's martial arts action changed between and The first 32 episodes of ThunderCats shown by the BBC were virtually uncut, at least save for the editing of the fade-out at the end of Act 2 and fade-in at the start of Act 3 in each episode. Therefore, all of Panthro's fight scenes were left intact, including those where he used his fighting sticks, which were modeled on the ancient Japanese weapon known as the nunchaku.
However, by , the arrival of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in Britain completely altered the view taken by censors towards the portrayal of martial arts in children's cartoons. Before that series' arrival in the UK, it had been subject to rigorous editing before censors would allow it to be shown in Britain - so, for all of the "new" ThunderCats episodes shown in to , fight scenes involving Panthro using his weapon were also cut, not as aggressively as the Turtles' cartoon, but enough to render the episodes incomplete in some cases.
Thundercats was one of those shows that let me live in a power fantasy and helped boost my self-confidence. Now that both Thundercats TV shows are on Hulu, you best believe I will be watching these shows in my spare time. Subscribe to get the best Verge-approved tech deals of the week. For those who remember the series, it debuted in and fits into the same broad category as He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: everything takes place on a magical planet beset by the local undead villain and his evil machinations.
Masters of the Universe ended up being made into an incredibly disappointing Hollywood vehicle for Dolph Lundgren. I still remember sitting in a cinema in wondering how on Eternia the makers had managed to wrench all sense of joy and colour from the big-screen version.
But there are reasons to be cheerful about the proposed film. For a start ThunderCats was always better than He-Man: the animation, by Japanese studio Pacific Animation Corporation, was wonderfully crisp and stylised, the voicework by a tiny team of close-knit actors blending just the right mix of silly and serious.
