Can i travel through zone 1

No idea, it struck me as an academic question, though if you arrived at Victoria by train, then if there was an imminent faster train to London Bridge, it would be substantially more convenient than taking the tube.

I want to get to New Cross from Victoria and had spotted the train that was Victoria to London bridge. So London Bridge is only of tangential relevance. This service is very frequent and takes 10 minutes it incidentally does pass through London Bridge, but it makes more sense to get on at Cannon Street, which is a direct journey from Victoria, than at London Bridge.

And this goes through zones 1,2 and 3. No-one would take this route unless they really wanted a scenic tour of South London's back gardens. And back to the OP's original question, yes you do need to have zone 3 on your travelcard or pay for an extension ticket if you want to go this way. Skip to main content. Bizarrely, this means that it's cheaper to travel through the 17 stations from Clapham Junction to Highbury, than it is to make the five-stop journey from Shoreditch to Highbury along the same tracks.

Dear Lee, Thank you very much for responding to my enquiry.

Yours sincerely, George Danker. Dear Mr Danker, London has a complex inter-connected rail network with orbital links such that it is theoretically possible to take route which avoids Zone 1 between any pair of stations which are both outside Zone 1. For journeys between stations which are both outside Zone 1, TfL defines the journey as requiring Zone 1 if both of the following apply: i a route via Zone 1 is considered clearly to be more likely than one avoiding Zone 1 ii For the journey concerned the Oyster system which for technical reasons, and to avoid undue complexity for customers, necessarily has limited opportunities for intermediate validation cannot tell on exit whether customers have been through Zone 1 or not.

I hope this clarifies the matter. George Danker 7 September Delivered. Dear Lee, Thank you very much for getting back to me, I do appreciate it. I do appreciate your efforts on this matter.
