Where is sightron manufactured

Manufacture of most low end scopes moved out of Japan a while back, with Weaver K and V scopes being among the few holdouts. For the most part, I have not seen any real quality difference due to that except for some early samples. Most of the rest of perceived quality difference is likely due to user bias and sample variation. Most of the Phillipine factories that make optics are Japanese owned with Japanese engineers on-site.

That having been said, as the complexity goes up, Phillipine factories still struggle a bit, but even that is changing.

If you insist on Japanese made scopes, get ready to pay up a bit aside from an aforementioned Weavers. With Bushnell, most of the Elite scopes. Just about every other Japan-made scope is even more expensive, aside from fixes power SS scopes. The Nikon Monarchs are made in the Phillipines, the rest are made in China. How about Leupold, where are they made. Leupolds are made in Beaverton, Oregon Son of Ed wrote: Leupolds are made in Beaverton, Oregon Elkins45 wrote:.

Sightron is owned and operated by a Japanese company that specialized in the lenses for high-end microscopes.

The parent company founded Sightron in in Youngsville, NC, and they are still headquartered at that location. When Sightron first entered the riflescope market, almost all its products were produced in Japan. But, as Sightron expanded its different lines of scopes , they also made some changes to both their manufacturing processes and manufacturing locations.

It is supplied with a low light German 4A three post and crosshair reticle and standard height, fingertip adjustable windage and elevation knobs. The 3. It comes with tall target type adjustment knobs and side focus. The only reticle supplied is Sightron's Mil-Dot, which is a fine choice for long range shooting even if there isn't time to calculate mils. But I think Sightron would be wise to also offer a standard Plex reticle in this model for hunters who prefer that style.

Due to its size Mine graces a Weatherby Magnum Mark V Deluxe rifle, where its excellent optics and precision reticle can be used to good advantage. The basic x50mm SIII scope comes with tall target type knobs and side focus. It's even larger than the 3.

This is an ideal scope for a heavy varmint rifle. I would put it somewhere between a VX2 and VX3. I have not hunted this rifle very hard though and have yet to see how it will hold up. The Si is on my friend's rifle now and is way better in low light than my Nikon Fieldmaster called something else in the US but falls between the Monarch and pro staff. My friend hunted the rifle and scope pretty hard over the last two years.

The rifle took two huge knocks he tripped and fell , where in both cases the scope got dented and did not lose zero. The Sii is also on a and has been flawless for three and a half years. The rifle was also hunted pretty hard and fired more than a rounds.

I think they are hard to beat for what you pay for them. Joined: Feb Northern Maine. I agree and would rate them as an OK scope. I have an SII on my muzzleloader. For what I am using it for, it is fine but not sure I'd want it on my primary hunting rifle.

I have had it for years and it has never moved, been in some nasty weather and been fine, and is generally clear. VA, USA. I have an S2, x42 on my TC Omega. It has been a very good scope. I personally like the eye relief and eye box on mine. To me it seems very comparable to the older VX II's. Works great for my uses. For the money I have in mine, I don't think I could replace it for the same price. My s2 has seen some rough duty on an old Ruger dragged around by my son and nephew.

It just keeps working without any adjustment required. Think of it as a boring Vx2 with a little less bright image, a little smaller eye box and probably better adjustments. My friend who has his on a is disappointed that it is so boring and just works - not a flashy scope at all.

Louis, MO. Centre County, PA. I heard that their service department is lacking. I shoot with an online dealer, and he dropped them due to service. I have 4 Big Sky silhouette specials, and they are excellent.

A few years ago they were a bargain, but the price for that particular model drastically increased. I had a problem with one, and they gave me the single worst case of service that I've ever experienced. Originally Posted by Archerhunter. They'll never stop until they're stopped. That's a fact. North Bend OR. I have only one Sightron. We have been beating on it for 3 years now. Other than the turrets turning a little too easy it has been flawless and rivals my 8. Very pleasing to look through for extended time with no distortion and great color. We have been mean to it. The knobs are scuffed to bright silver and the tube has some good scuffs but no dents.

Two elk hunts and two dead elk at very long range both at the very last moments of legal shooting time. No interest in shooting game other than squirrels that far away again. Took a day and a half to get the one out. I think optically and tracking wise it walks all over the Viper PST line in about the same price range. I think the new VX6 will top it for sure but at a bit higher price. IMO the Big Skys view is as good as anybody's and their tracking is supposedly there also Originally Posted by JGRaider.

Probably not. But given the results obtained in multiple matches, a couple of the guys have done very well with them.

A while back, I brought two rifles to our yard benchrest match. One had a nxs, one had a SIII. Resolving 6mm bullet holes at yards on a cloudy day is a pretty good test. Comparing Sightron to Nightforce. This forum is the gift that keeps on giving. Sightron are junk.

I had two, killed them both in short order. Maybe their target scopes are better From a place you will not see, comes a sound you will not hear. Originally Posted by dogcatcher Osan, ROK.
